We have recently down sized by closing the American Tap Dance Center.

Tap
City
Tap City, the annual New York City Tap Festival, was first created in July of 2001 and includes daily master classes, choreography residencies, an annual Copasetic Boat Ride, film presentations, outdoor public events, the Tap City Awards, Tap jams, history tours and performances assembling hundreds of professionals and students from around the world.

Scholarships
In its on-going commitment to diversity the ATDF continues to administer the Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund for serious Tap dance students ages 5 – 19.
Education scholarships are awarded to students based on both their financial need and artistic merit.

Artists in Residence
ATDF's Artist in Residence Program was introduced in 2003 and was administered at the American Tap Dance Center until June of 2024. It supported emerging, mid-career and master professional tap dancers recognized for their unique vision and personal style and is dedicated to nurturing a creative environment for artists to connect, explore and share their talent with other artists, students and the general public.

Tap it
Out
Tap It Out is a free, public and outdoor event that is presented and performed by a large number of dancers who participate in Tap City. Imagine a chorus of hundreds of tapping feet performing an a cappella choreography. Dancers rehearse throughout the week of the festival to create this explosion of tones and rhythms.

Awards
The Hoofer and Tap Preservation Awards are given to Tap Dancers, Choreographers, Teachers, Musicians, Educators, Archivists, Writers, or organizations for outstanding achievements and contributions to the field.
Tap Dance Hall of Fame honors legendary tap dancers by preserving their legacy.

Tap Dance Forum
Artistic Director Tony Waag convenes a meeting of International Tap Artists, teachers and producers from around the globe to share information and discuss current issues in the field.

Introduced at Tap City 2016, the New York City Tap Festival.
It is designed to provide numerous opportunities for festival students, and the general public, to learn more about, and experience, the rich evolution of tap dance in its birthplace, New York City.
