New Tap Choreography showcases the new works of today's hottest tap dancers and up-and-coming tap artists. Join us at the lovely Little Flower Theater for a night of cutting edge tap with live swinging jazz accompaniment.
We are looking for professional quality choreography with adult performers and will also consider professional quality work by young dancers ages 13 and older. Please, no recital or competition pieces. Submissions should be choreographed tap works. New tap compositions and works-in-progress are especially encouraged. We will consider structured works that include improvisation, but since the focus is on New Tap Choreography, please do not submit 100% improvised work. Live musical accompaniment preferred.
Performers have the option of working with our jazz trio (piano, bass & drums). Rehearsal time is limited. There is no performance fee.
How to Apply:
Ensembles interested in performing at New Tap Choreography may submit a Registration Form and an audition tape for consideration. Video can be either DVD or VHS, American NTSC format only. Videos will not be returned. We will accept a maximum of 2 submissions, not to exceed 10 minutes. The completed application and video submission deadline is January 15, 2008, and you will be notified by February 1, 2008. Mail to: New Tap Choreography Showcase, American Tap Dance Foundation, 18 West 27th Street, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10001
Video should show advanced or professional tap dancers performing professional quality material. If you have performed with us previously and we are familiar with your work, no video tape is required. Please email twaag@atdf.org.
