Laraine's "Club 124" Tribute to Jimmy Slyde
July 5th, 2008 8-10 pm
Please get the word out that Laraine Goodman is reviving "Club 124" eleven years later. Club 124 was conceived and ran for the entire summer of 1997. We captured the imagination of a nation looking for creativity, meaning and community. With Tap, jazz, song and dance, we caught the eye of the New York Times, National Public Radio, CBS' Bryan Gumbel's "Public Eye" and, most importantly, our
Neighborhood, East 4th Street in the East Village. Is it possible that now, 11 years later, there is something to this? I think there is. Another cycle, circle that cannot be broken. That was Jimmy Slyde's mantra, The Circle, the unbroken circle...that is tap, jazz, life, love, empowerment, community. The man knew the way.
So, come to my stoop at 124 E. 4th Street, btwn 1st ad 2nd ave on Sat night, July 5, 2008, 8-10 pm, kick-off post 4th of July, tap-off, jazz-off, and on to new horizons, clearer, stronger visions.....
See you there, on the block, on the stoop..bring your shoes, your cds, your rhythms, your boundless energy and loving power. Love, Peace, Pulse of a a People, a Planet, a Universe.
Laraine
