Once again, the Mayor of Tap City Tony Waag brings together an international cast of legendary tap dance veterans, cutting edge soloists, contemporary ensembles, and the hottest new hoofers on the scene today, in honor of America’s most virtuosic and entertaining art form. Celebrating its’ 7th year anniversary, Tap City creates a rich and diverse kaleidoscope of tap artists and a unique variety of styles, rhythms and musical feet.

Performances by kids, teens and youth ensembles from across the nation. Hosted by Tap City’s Youth Program Director Michele Ribble. The 5th annual TAP TEACHER AWARDS will be presented.

Performances by unique international artists and ensembles that converge from around the globe exploring new frontiers in tap dance! An evening of contemporary choreography created by leading choreographers for cutting edge ensembles including Chloe Arnold, Ayodele Casel, Michelle Dorrance, Barbara Duffy & Company (Michelle Dorrance, Barbara Duffy, Karida Griffith, Chikako Iwahori, Maya Jenkins, Carson Murphy, Claudia Rahardjanoto, & Lynn Schwab), Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, DeWitt Fleming, Margaret Morrison, the New Jersey Tap Ensemble, Bay Area Dance Company, Jason Samuels Smith, the Tap City Youth Ensemble and Tony Waag .
The annual HOOFER AWARD will be presented to tap dancer/choreographer Deborah Mitchell and the TAP PRESERVATION AWARD will be presented to producer Susan Goldbetter.

Tony Waag and friends take us on a rhythmic romp celebrating traditional vaudeville, comedy and classic song and dance. Performers include Terry Brock, Brenda Bufalino, Mary Giattino, Derick K. Grant, Ray Hesselink, Ann Kilkelly, Mable Lee, Parallel Exit (Ryan Kasprzak, Brent McBeth, and Derek Roland), Germaine Salsberg’s Les Femmes, Ruth Rosendaal, Courtney Runft, the Tap City Youth Ensemble, Tony Waag and Karen Callaway Williams.
Tap legends Eddie Brown and Leon Collins will be inducted into the INTERNATIONAL TAP DANCE HALL OF FAME.

New York City’s largest free outdoor dance series returns to Battery Park with world class dance companies, co-presented with Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and The Joyce Theater.

Evening performance will feature a variety of tap groups and a live music trio (electric piano, drums, string bass) on stage. Co-produced by Tony Waag of the American Tap Dance Foundation presenting the best of Tap City on Tour.
