In order to be eligible for a performance opportunity in the Youth Showcase or Tap Youth/Tap Future, students must be registered Festival participants enrolled in the Youth or Pre-Professional Programs, and submit an application and video of their work by following the directions below. Click here for a printable Youth Audition Application
Video Requirements:
Performers are chosen for Tap Youth/Tap Future or the Youth Showcase by video submission. All festival goers in the youth and pre-professional programs will have the opportunity to perform in the Youth Showcase. Dancers will be chosen for one or two performances only, and you will be notified by late May as to which ones that you will be performing in. All decisions are final. To submit for the Tap Youth Tap Future performance, your submissions may be 6 minutes (or less) in duration. Tap Youth Showcase of Talent submissions are to be 3 minutes (or less) in duration. Your sending must represent the exact piece of work that you wish to be considered, and in the same exact attire that you will be wearing for this performance. Tap Youth/Tap Future performers may perform to recorded music or (if applicable) may perform with a live jazz trio (piano, bass, and drums) which will be available. Audition footage must be in DVD or VHS American NTSC Format only. European and overseas applicants: video must be compatible with American video systems; we cannot accept PAL or SECAM formats.
Please do not send in multiple packages of separate information or materials.
Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
Your Music:
Only professional quality recorded CD's are acceptable. Badly burned CD's that are inaudible will result in your dancing a cappella. Please bring one copy for your performance and bring a backup copy with you. Both CD's should include name of school and name of piece. Only the piece that you are performing should be on your CD. Please leave a 5 second lead in. If you are planning to perform with our live band (Tap Youth/Tap Future ONLY), please include a copy of your chart(s) with your complete submission. Remember to collect your CD’s, and all musical charts. The ATDF is not responsible for music that is left any where during our Festival.
Important: Don’t get left out of a performance opportunity… think ahead!
If you are auditioning for our Tap Youth Tap Future show with an audition piece that is over 3 minutes in duration, this piece WOULD NOT be eligible for a performance opportunity in the Youth Showcase of Talent. Please prepare an additional selection (3 minutes or less) for our Youth Showcase should your longer piece not be accepted in to the Tap Youth Tap Future performance. Performance slots in all of our shows are limited, send your videos ASAP.
We are excited to see our new tappers for Festival 2007, and we can’t wait to see our returning student’s improvements each year, so start sending now! We are awaiting your videos with great anticipation, Good Luck!
Deadline: Youth Performance Audition submissions deadline is May 10, 2007.

General Admission: $15.00
Tickets for the Adult Showcase: See Registration Form.
Tap City 2007 offers a performance opportunity to adult students, teachers and senior ensembles who have the urge to emerge. It’s a chance to see and be seen, showcasing amateur and professional groups from around the US and around the world, as well as works-in-progress showings by students in the Adult 3-Day Residencies.
Who is eligible to perform: The Adult Showcase of Talent is an opportunity for Tap City students (ages 16 +) to share their talents with each other. Because of time constraints, only ensembles, duets, and trios will be considered, no soloists. All Showcase performers must be enrolled in a minimum of one Tap City adult 3-day course or one 3-day residency. There are two ways to get a performance opportunity: 1) send an Adult Showcase application and register for classes, or 2) register for an Adult Program 3-Day Residency.
There is no audition.
There are two ways to get a performance opportunity:
1) Groups who wish to perform their own material should send an Adult Showcase application and register for classes;
2) Students who wish to learn material to perform may register for an Adult 3-Day Residency.

Application Deadline is May 4, 2007 but performance slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and we encourage ensembles to apply early. All performers in each ensemble must register in a minimum of one Adult 3-Day Course or one 3-Day Residency. Registration for courses and residencies will begin in March. A video submission is not required for the Adult Showcase.
Adult Residencies (for students who want to learn material to perform): There are three different residencies offered on Sunday, July 8 through Tuesday, July 10. Residency choreographers for 2007 will be announced in the Spring when Tap City registration begins. Check out Adult Programs for Residency descriptions and levels. Each residency meets with a choreographer for three days, 2 hours and 45 minutes each day, to learn a work. On Tuesday afternoon the Residencies will have a short stage rehearsal. The Residencies culminate on the evening of July 10 with a work-in-progress showing by the students of the material they have learned. Full details about the Residencies and Showcase will be sent to students after registration.
