SCHOLARSHIPS & INTERNSHIPS


The American Tap Dance Foundation established the Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund for serious tap students who wish to study in one of the following ATDF Programs:

• ATDF Year-Round Youth Classes (ages 3 – 19)

• ATDF Weekend Intensives & Workshops (ages 13– 19)

• Tap City Youth Ensemble (ages 11– 19)

• Tap City – The New York City Tap Festival

    (ages 6 – 19 in Youth, Adult, or Pre-Professional Program)


Gregory Hines Youth Scholarships are awarded to students based on financial need and merit. The majority of the awards are partial scholarships covering between 25% to 50% of the tuition. A small number of full scholarships are awarded. The scholarship covers tuition only and does not cover the $40.00 registration fee or other expenses related to taking the classes.

Scholarship Application Deadlines for 2009-2010

Tap City 2010 – The New York City Tap Festival:   May 1, 2010

Year-Round Youth Classes and Tap City Youth Ensemble:

Returning student renewal deadline:           Mon. Aug 9, 2010

New student deadline:                               Mon. Sept 20, 2010

 

Weekend Intensives & Workshops:             Year-Round

Application Instructions:

1) Download scholarship application form:

Print out and complete the scholarship application form (type or print clearly). Youth Scholarship FORM

2) Complete the Registration Form for the program you are applying for:

Tap City Registration Form

Year-Round ATDF Registration Form

Complete the correct Registration form and print up.

 

3) Complete Scholarship Application packet should include:

  • Completed Registration Form
  • $40 Registration fee
  • Scholarship Application
  • Letter of Recommendation

Remember to include Registration Fee payment (check or money order made out to ATDF or credit card information).  Do not include tuition payment with your scholarship application.

 

4) Send all the information by mail or fax to:

We must receive all the information in one packet. Please do not send information in separately. Information sent in separately will not be considered.

Notification:

Scholarship recipients will be notified by email after the deadline date.  Please be sure to print your email address clearly on the application.  For partial scholarship recipients, the tuition balance is due immediately to hold your spot in your class choices.


Internship/Work-Study Positions Available:

The American Tap Dance Foundation is seeking responsible, mature 17+ year old students who are available to work in exchange for classes at Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival and other . Work Study students must be available full time one week prior and for the duration of each event. Deadlines & application: 

Accepting applications for Tap City, the NYC Tap Festival now!

TAP CITY, THE NEW YORK CITY TAP FESTIVAL
Tap City features eight action packed days of programs and events where hundreds of tap dancers converge on the tap dance capital of the world to study, perform, teach, observe, share and dance!

MASTER TAP INTENSIVE
Master Tap Intensives give advanced students a chance to work with a top teacher and choreographer in the field. Students experience first hand the choreographic process and creation of original material that will be presented in future productions produced by the ATDF.
