Pandit Chitresh Das is one of the foremost masters of Kathak, classical dance of North India.  Kathak is comprised of rapid, percussive footwork with bare feet and wearing four pounds of bells on each ankle, one of the world's most complex rhythm systems with high level improvisation, graceful and expressive hand gestures and storytelling embodying the history and epics of ancient India.   One of the few masters in the world who can perform the demanding and thrilling traditional solo, Pandit Das is also breaking new ground through innovation within tradition and collaboration between traditions.

Visit www.kathak.org for more information on Das and his organization.

"Das has opened so many new avenues to his art form, its now wonder he is called a phenomenon" Hindustan Times, India

This master class is specifically for Kathak and Tap students and will accommodate multiple levels, as Pandit Das makes the class accessible for beginners and challenging for more advanced students.

Jason Samuels Smith will be in attendance and he and Pandit Das will end the class by giving a demonstration of how these two great artists communicate through their deep understanding of their respective traditions.

"The Master Class with Pandit Chitresh Das will be spiritually enlightening and technically challenging for people of all walks of life."
