“Tap City Gala”
Duke on 42nd Street (7:00 pm)
A party in two acts! Opening night benefit performance with
tributes to the late tap Ambassador Gregory Hines and
MGM’s tap dance royalty the late Donald O’Connor
and Ann Miller. All three will be inducted into the International
Tap
Dance Hall of Fame. The evening begins in the theater with
performances by Brenda Bufalino, Jazz Tap Ensemble,
Kendrick Jones II, The Legacy Dancers, Michela Marino Lerman,
Van “the Man” Porter, Dr. Jimmy Slyde, Lillias
White, Tony Waag and others. The second half of the show continues
upstairs at the Tap Lounge featuring Roxane
Butterfly, Max Pollak, Tamango, Tapage and other dancers and
musicians from New York’s hottest world beat scene.
All proceeds support future programming of the American Tap
Dance Foundation.

“Tap Internationals”
Duke on 42nd Street (Two shows/7:00 pm & 9:30 pm)
Performances by unique international artists and ensembles
from around the globe including Grant Swift (Australia/New
Zealand), Flavia Costa (Brazil), Steven Harper Company (Brazil),
Tapage (France/Japan), Kazu Kumagai (Japan),
Andreas Dänel (Germany) and more. This evening has become
the favorite show among those who are in the know!

“Tap Youth/Tap Future”
Duke on 42nd Street (Two shows/7:00 pm & 9:30 pm)
Performances by kids, teens and youth ensembles from across
the nation with special guest ensemble Tap Kids. Hosted by
Tap City’s Youth Program Director Michele Ribble, these
performances also include the presentation of the 2nd annual
Tap Teacher Awards presented to leading tap educators in the
field.

“Tap New York”
Duke on 42nd Street (Two shows/7:00 pm & 9:30 pm)
The best New York City can offer, featuring local masters,
soloists, and ensembles including Brenda Bufalino, Barbara
Duffy & Company, Dormeshia Sumbry Edwards, Yvette Glover,
Charles Goddertz, Mable Lee, Reggio McLaughlin, Margaret Morrison,
Michele Ribble, Germaine Salsberg, Baakari Wilder and others.
Ensemble pieces created during the festival by Karen Callaway
Williams and Tony Waag will also premiere. The annual Tap
Preservation Award was presented to Jane Goldberg for outstanding
achievement in the preservation of tap dance.

Duke on 42nd Street (Two shows/7:00 pm & 9:30 pm)
Tap tributes to legendary masters and teachers, and new choreography
by contemporary soloists, cutting edge ensembles and up and
coming hoofers including performances by Chloe Arnold, Terry
Brock, Harold Cromer, Lynn Dally, Generation Tap, Josh Hilberman,
Pamela Raff, Rhythm ISS, the Rhythm Queens (Germaine Goodson
and Deborah Mitchell), Shoehorn, Jason Samuels Smith, and
tributes to Charles “Honi” Coles, the Copasetics,
Paul Draper, Henry LeTang, Bettye Morrow and Leonard Reed.
The annual Hoofer Awards were presented to tap masters, Ernest
“Brownie” Brown, Dianne Walker and LaVaughn Robinson.
