Tap Intensive Workshops

20 different (5) day courses focusing on Technique, Improvisation, Clog, Body Percussion, Jazz, Funk, Rhythm, Music for dancers and Swing.

Performances by youth ensembles and teens.

Soloists and ensembles from Brazil, Spain, Germany, Israel, Japan, France, Russia, Estonia, etc. have a chance to perform.

“Tap Choreography”

New works presented by leading soloists and ensembles from around the world.

Thursday, July 11
“Tap City” VIP Benefit/Reception

The Duke on 42nd Street (6:00 pm - 7:30 pm)
The The Tap Preservation Award was given to Sali Ann Kriesman and the Hoofer Award was given to both Buster Brown and Jimmy Slyde. Performances followed with special appearances by Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Dianne Walker, Tony Waag, Jimmy Slyde, Sarah Petronio and others.

“Tap All - Stars”

Teaching staff and other professional soloists perform.

“Tap Master - Tap Mentors”

Focusing on tributes to master teachers and mentors, professional soloists and ensembles will perform.

“Tap Talks – Tap Films”

The Duke on 42nd Street (11:00 am & 2:00 pm)
Leading educators and masters in the tap field will present and conduct panel discussions, lectures, and film presentations on tap dance history, personal careers, and current issues, culminating with a presentation and announcement of this year’s NYC Tap Dance Hall of Fame inductees.

TAP CITY, THE NEW YORK CITY TAP FESTIVAL
Tap City features eight action packed days of programs and events where hundreds of tap dancers converge on the tap dance capital of the world to study, perform, teach, observe, share and dance!

MASTER TAP INTENSIVE
Master Tap Intensives give advanced students a chance to work with a top teacher and choreographer in the field. Students experience first hand the choreographic process and creation of original material that will be presented in future productions produced by the ATDF.
