You and your dancers will have the opportunity to perform in one of our Showcases or the Tap Future Concert. YOUTH “TAKE IT TO THE STUDIO” SHOWCASE A performance opportunity for solos, duos, trios & small ensembles (Youth Program ages 10-14) Wednesday, July 7, 2010 1:45-2:30 PM American Tap Dance Center 154 Christopher Street #2B How exciting it will be for you to dance in front of our distinguished panel of admired tap professionals! This is your chance to dance your 3 minute (or less) solo, duo, trio, or small ensemble in front of a live audience in one of Tap City’s studio showcases. SHOWCASE APPLICATION & REQUIREMENTS: In order to be eligible for the above performance opportunities, students must be registered participants in the Tap City Youth, Pre-Professional or Adult Residency Programs. We're sorry, but due to space constraints, Mini-Fest students or students registered in Master Classes only are NOT eligible to apply to perform in the showcases. Click here for a printable Showcase Application FORM For Youth, Teen (PPP) & Adult “Take it to the Studio” Showcases: An audition video is NOT required. Print and complete a Performance Application and send by June 28, 2010. Applications are accepted from teachers, ensembles, and individuals. All festival students in the Youth Program, Pre-Professional and Adult Programs will have the opportunity to perform in one of the “Take it to the Studio” Showcases. Pieces must be 3 minutes (or less) in duration. Read below for music requirements. Showcase spots will be filled on a first served basis. If space permits, students may also sign up during the first few days of the festival. Music Requirements: Only professional quality recorded CDs are acceptable. Badly burned CDs that are inaudible will result in your dancing a cappella. We suggest you test your CD on several different players to ensure it will work for your performance. Only the piece that you are performing should be on your CD. Please bring one copy for your performance and bring a backup copy with you. Both CDs should be labeled with name of group and name of piece. Remember to collect your CD's from our staff at the end of your performance. The ATDF is not responsible for any music that is left behind during the Festival. Additional Performance Opportunity! One or two soloists or ensembles from each Showcase will be selected by our panel of guest artists to perform at the Tap Future Performance, Thursday July 8th! Peter Jay Sharp Theatre 2537 Broadway at 95th Street Do you have the urge to emerge? Tap City puts ALL of our students on stage in a fun show of youth, teen and adult students. Tap dancers will perform for each other—on Broadway!--in an informal performance featuring the newly minted work from all of the Tap City Residencies from the Mini-Fest, Youth, Pre-Professional and Adult Programs. It’s a chance to see and be seen, with all performers sitting in the audience to watch the works of fellow students, amateurs and professionals from around the US and around the world. A few dancers and ensembles will be selected from the Adult, Teen and Youth “Take it to the Studio” Showcases to perform also on this evening. Hosted by our entire Education Program Faculty and ATDF Artistic Director Tony Waag. Tickets: General $22 Children 17 & under/Symph. Eligibility: All Tap City students registered in the Mini-Fest, Youth or Pre-Professional Program, or an Adult Residency will perform their newly learned repertory works at the Tap Future performance. All you need to do is send in your Tap City registration. If you choose not to participate in the Showcase, just inform both the Registrar and your Residency Choreographer.
Tap Future Tickets: All Tap Future performers will sit in the audience to cheer each other on. Your Tap Future ticket is included in your tuition. Tickets for family, friends and the general public are available through the Symphony Space box office (see above).
Performer information: an email with additional information about the performance will be sent to all registered performers before the Festival. 3) PROFESSIONAL TAP WORKS FOR TAP CITY 2010
We are seeking professional quality tap works that demonstrate excellence and originality. Performers must be adult professionals. WORK MUST BE NO LONGER THAN FIVE MINUTES. Each year Tap City, the New York City Tap Festival, produces a series of professional concerts showcasing the top soloists and ensembles in tap dance today. Tap professionals are invited to submit an application and demo recording of completed work for consideration to be performed at a Tap City concert. Tap City presents new innovations in the form as well as traditional tap styles. Tap composition or improvisation, solo or ensemble work, to live music or recorded are all welcome.
