TAP IT OUT REHEARSALS: Students should plan to arrive at Tap City no later than Monday afternoon  to begin TAP IT OUT rehearsals, which continue each afternoon, Tuesday-Friday. All Tap City students will rehearse five days in preparation for TAP IT OUT! Tap City’s unique outdoor celebration of percussive feet Saturday, July 11. Imagine a chorus of 100s of tapping feet performing a cappella choreography in multiple tap dance styles. Tap City participants will join local professionals to create this explosion of tones and rhythms. Tap It Out is conceived and created by the mayor of Tap City Tony Waag and is co-directed and staged by dancer/choreographer Lynn Schwab. If you are registered in the Adult, Pre-Professional or Youth Program, you have the opportunity to participate in this event as it is included in your package! Once you enroll, you will receive detailed instructions in the Spring. Each dancer will dance on their own platform, which will be supplied by Tap City, and, will learn their part of the presentation in advance via YouTube. Adult and teen group rehearsals will take place Monday, July 6th - Saturday, July 11th and are designed around your regular class schedule.

REPERTORY: Each morning, Tuesday-Friday, students will work with a Master Tap Choreographer Sarah Petronio, learning a professional-level work of tap repertory. Over the four days they will polish the work and prepare it for performance. On the evening of the fourth day, students will perform their newly-minted work for other Tap City students, friends, and family at the Tap Future performance, at the Duke on 42nd Street.

REPERTORY DESCRIPTION: "Discovering the dancer within" with Sarah Petronio assisted by LeeLa Petronio and Acia Gray. Sarah Petronio places emphasis on the importance of movement, sound, tap basics, swinging time structures, jazz riffs and vocalization in her classes to develop and define increased awareness
regarding the connection between the dance and the music. For this residency Sarah will teach a jazzy bossa nova (repertory from her show "Jazz in Motion").

LUNCH: On the first day of the Repertory Rehearsal, students will meet at lunchtime with the choreographer for videos and talk about her dance career. Students should bring a bag lunch. On Wednesday and Thursday, students will have a 1-hour lunch break.

PPP Master Classes: After a 30 minute break, dancers will have special master classes

REPERTORY REVIEW OR REHEARSAL TBA: An extra hour at the end of the afternoon is set aside, if the choreographer needs a little extra time with dancers.

FRIDAY: PPP students are dismissed early at 1:30. A short tech rehearsal, time TBA, will happen at Duke on 42nd Street in the afternoon.

SATURDAY: TAP IT OUT! Rehearsal and performance. Details coming after you register.
