PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES AND HOW TO APPLY

ATDF programming offers elite performance opportunities for children, teens and adults during our annual Tap City Festival. You and your dancers will have the opportunity to perform in the Tap City - Tap Challenge, the Tap Future Concert and the TAP IT OUT event at the end of the festival. These performance opportunities bring with them recognition in the field and are an asset to your school and individual dancer's resumes. In order to be eligible for these performance opportunities, students must be registered Festival participants in the Tap City Youth, Pre-Professional Programs, or Adult Residencies only.

TAP CITY - TAP CHALLENGE

Tuesday, July 10, 2012, 7:00 PM

The Tap City Tap Challenge is the first of its kind that specializes in the many diverse styles, modes, grooves, and musical time signatures of tap dance. The Tap City Tap Competitions will focus on three different styles to be announced early enough for the dancers, teachers and choreographers to prepare. Because our interests lie in the advancement of this art form, we aim to further the perception and the presentation of Tap Dance in a comprehensive manner by demanding only excellence in execution, interpretation, musicality and choreography. Each participant will critiqued by an expert panel of judges.

TAP FUTURE
(ALL STUDENT SHOWCASE)

Thursday, July 12, 2012, 7:00 PM

1) Do you have the urge to emerge?  Tap City puts ALL of our students on stage in a fun show of youth, teen and adult students. Tap dancers will perform for each other—on Broadway!--in an informal performance featuring the newly minted work from all of the Tap City Residencies from the Youth, Pre-Professional and Adult Programs as well as selected soloists, duets and ensembles through video auditions. It’s a chance to see and be seen, with all performers sitting in the audience to watch the works of fellow students, amateurs and professionals from around the US and around the world. Hosted by our entire Education Program Faculty and ATDF Artistic Director Tony Waag.

2) Soloists, duets, and ensembles who want an additional performance opportunity at Tap Future may submit a video audition to be considered for one of the extra performance spots. Performance works will be selected from participants in all three programs. All performers must be registered students in the Youth or Pre-Professional Program, or an Adult Residency.
