YOUTH PROGRAMS (August)

ATDF youth programs, for children and teens, teach students about America’s own indigenous art form – Tap. Our distinguished faculty shares their knowledge of the artistry and history of tap with each student in a fun, safe and supportive environment.

	Tap Camp August 2-6, 2010 Tap Intensive August 23-26, 2010 TCYE Boot Camp August 27-29, 2010 All Classes held at:  American Tap Dance Center 154 Christopher Street #2B (betw Greenwich & Washington Sts) Visit Registration Form

1) Tap Camp - August 2-6, 2010 (9:30am - 2pm)

• For Beginners - no experience required
  (one year of training) ages 6-8
  
• For Adv. Beginners
  (2-3 years of experience) ages 6-9

Program includes:

• Tap technique class and choreography each day
• Master classes in African dance, Percussion & Music Making, Hip Hop
• Tap History & Film
• One Field Trip (TBA)
• Presentation for parents on last day in studio

2) Tap Intensive - August 23-26, 2010 (10am – 3pm)

• Ages:   8 - 13 years old

          Level:   3+ years experience 

Program includes:

• Tap technique class
• Master classes in turns & slides, more TBA
• Tap History & Film
• Field Trip
• Live Music
• Presentation for parents on last day in studio 

Choreography to learn:

• Walk Around
• Shim Sham (with alternate beginning)
• Copasetic Soft Shoe
• BS Chorus

Geared for ATDF Classes: Beginning 3B, Beginning 2C, Beginning & Repertory I

3) TCYE Boot Camp - August 27-29 (Details soon!)

What makes our classes different?
The ATDF classes offer children and teens a chance to become immersed in tap culture.  Classes focus on the fundamentals of rhythm tap, including clean technique, classic and contemporary tap repertory, and improvisation skills. Tap history, films, jazz music, and special guests deepen students' appreciation of this great American art form.

Scholarships for Youth Classes:

Available through the Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund.

Late payment fee:  $20 charge on installment payments over 30 days late.
