ABOUT THE WINTER TAP INTENSIVES:

 

INTENSIVE WITH BRENDA BUFALINO: 

Master tap dancer and choreographer Brenda Bufalino teaches intermediate/advanced tap technique and follows the tradition of the “Class Act” by concentrating on Tone, Texture & Melodic Phrasing. Brenda will focus on Avant-garde experimentation as well as Swing, Bop & Soft Shoe creating new work for future ATDF productions. 

Two (3) hour Sessions.

INTENSIVE WITH DERICK K. GRANT: 

Master tap dancer and choreographer Derick K. Grant teaches intermediate/advanced tap technique and will be working on a new piece to be included in his hit tap dance production of Imagine Tap which he is remounting for a future engagement.
Two (3) hour Sessions.

CONFIRMATION NOTICE: We will send you a confirmation notice by email within two weeks of receiving your registration. Please contact us if you don't receive your notice within two weeks.

 

LATE REGISTRATION: If you are registering after January 25, 2010 please contact us by phone or email for class availability.  Late registrations should be sent by fax only—not by mail.

 

STUDENT CANCELLATIONS: Before January 25, 2010 students can cancel their registration and receive a full refund minus a $25.00 processing fee. No refunds after January 25, 2010.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Saturday, February 13

Book Signing (6:00 - 7:00pm) by Tap Historian and Author of Tap Dancing America - A Cultural History Constance Valis Hill.

Tap Talks/Tap Films (7:00 - 9:00pm) - Archival and rarely seen tap films with a panel discussion led by Constance Valis Hill. Participants also include Brenda Bufalino, Derick Grant and other prominent tap dance choreographers.

$5 donation.

Sunday, February 14
FREE “Meet & Greet” Reception
(6:00 - 7:00pm) for all registered students. Come meet our staff, your teachers and fellow students, and have a snack and some refreshments on us!

Winter Tap Jam (7:00 - 9:00pm) – In honor of Gregory Hines’ Birthday! – Bring your shoes or just observe. This one is for all ages, and all levels.

$5 donation.

TAP CITY, THE NEW YORK CITY TAP FESTIVAL
Tap City features eight action packed days of programs and events where hundreds of tap dancers converge on the tap dance capital of the world to study, perform, teach, observe, share and dance!

MASTER TAP INTENSIVE
Master Tap Intensives give advanced students a chance to work with a top teacher and choreographer in the field. Students experience first hand the choreographic process and creation of original material that will be presented in future productions produced by the ATDF.
